Hanh Truong's Australian opal jewelry collection translates cosmic concepts into concrete design decisions

Hanh Truong's Galaxie Collection, a Silver A' Design Award winner in Jewelry Design, accomplishes exactly that by treating Australian Crystal Opal as a material metaphor for cosmic singularity. The design premise draws from both Big Bang cosmology and Taichi philosophy, two frameworks sharing an unexpected conceptual thread: both describe infinite potential emerging from a concentrated point. Truong allowed the philosophy to drive every design decision directly. The opal's natural play of color (shifting spectrums that change with viewing angle) became the visual representation of that singularity concept. Golden arcs extending in opposite directions from each central stone represent Yin and Yang energies diverging from shared origin. The result demonstrates philosophy generating form from the very first sketch, a principle brand managers can apply across product categories.
The collection's blackened gold backing, developed by Truong, illustrates how technical problem-solving reinforces narrative coherence. Crystal opal's transparency can diminish color intensity when light leaks through the back of the stone.
