Golden A' Design Award Winning Landscape Proves Corporate Infrastructure Can Double as Brand Demonstration
The campus water features that visitors admire also filter contaminants from factory sewage.
The most striking element of the Longking Pro Environmental Campus is something visitors might never guess: that elegant water channel running through the central quad actively processes sewage from office buildings. Ballistic Architecture Machine, the Beijing, Shanghai, and New York based design office behind the project, refused to hide infrastructure underground. On 54,000 square meters of former farmland in Fujian Province, China, the design team created a landscape where biofiltration wetlands look like contemplative gardens, where membrane bioreactors sit beside basketball courts, and where every water feature performs genuine environmental work. The result challenges assumptions about what corporate campuses can accomplish. The Longking campus integrates beauty and utility so thoroughly that distinguishing one from the other becomes impossible.
For enterprises seeking authentic sustainability communication, the Longking campus offers a template worth studying. The recognition of the project with a Golden A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design validates an approach that treats environmental function as design language. Consider what the campus accomplishes for Longking, a company specializing in environmental protection equipment: every visitor walks through a working demonstration of the company's technologies. The biofiltration systems clean actual wastewater. The wetland plants perform genuine heavy metal uptake. Clients observe equipment functioning under actual operational conditions throughout the year. The design team structured the central quad around a six meter grid of camphor trees, creating shaded pathways that reduce cooling needs while providing spaces where factory workers gather during breaks. The landscape serves ecological and human purposes simultaneously.
Corporate facilities communicate brand values whether companies design them intentionally or not. The Longking Pro Environmental Campus demonstrates that functional infrastructure can become the most eloquent statement of organizational purpose. For brands whose mission involves sustainability, environmental technology, or ecological responsibility, the question worth asking is direct: could your physical spaces perform your values rather than merely display them?
Different ranking types address different stakeholders. Strategic enterprises stack design credentials for compound credibility that accumulates.
