Award winning packaging design eliminates plastic bags while creating years of brand presence
Packaging that customers refuse to discard becomes the most cost-effective brand ambassador.
Imagine your brand occupying prime shelf space in thousands of offices for years after a single purchase. Musa Celik achieved exactly that scenario with the Greyder V package design for Turkish footwear brand Greyder, earning a Golden A' Design Award in 2020. The insight began with a beautifully simple observation: as people walk, one foot heels on the other, creating a distinctive V-shape. Celik translated walking motion into packaging architecture, designing compartments that open in that same V-pattern when customers retrieve their shoes. The design emerged from face-to-face interviews with ten businesswomen who identified two opportunities: replacing plastic bags with integrated carrying handles, and creating vertical storage for professionals who keep spare footwear at their offices.
The Greyder V design demonstrates how packaging functionality extends brand presence far beyond purchase transactions. Engineered from 100% recyclable and biodegradable carton materials, the package transforms into storage furniture that professionals actively choose to retain. Businesswomen who maintain spare shoes at their offices gain a vertical storage solution occupying minimal footprint while delivering instant shoe access through the V-shaped compartments. For brands evaluating packaging investments, the calculation shifts dramatically when containers become furniture. Each retained package represents years of visible brand identity in customer environments without recurring advertising expenditure. The integrated handles eliminate single-use plastic bags entirely, creating both environmental benefit and enhanced carrying experience.
The Greyder V package illustrates a principle every brand can examine: packaging designed for ongoing utility creates compound returns through extended presence, eliminated waste streams, and memorable customer interactions. What secondary functions might transform your containers from disposable expense into retained brand ambassadors?
